Interview with Jade Piper

Guys!! My current fave photographer is Jade Piper – she’s the most amazing Australian photographer who I am currently obsessed with. I mean – check out her work!! 😍😍😍

AND of course the beautiful Jade herself!!

I asked her a ton of different questions I think you’d all enjoy reading about – especially as other fellow photographers!!

Tell us a little about yourself!!

Hello beautiful souls, my name is Jade and I am a Gold Coast based photographer. Photography is my passion, and is pretty much all i think about besides wanting to eat ice cream 24/7! I guess you could say I have a sweet tooth! I love creating art through photos and making every woman feel comfortable within their own skin through every photoshoot that I do. I am a sucker for vegan food, swimming in the ocean and those hot summer days. When I am not doing photography or relaxing by the beach I also so pole fitness as a sport which I have been doing for 4 years. I love travelling and hope to do it alot more this year.

What does a typical week in your life look like?

Every week of my life is completely different which is so amazing! But my typical week will go something like this. Most of my week consists of going back and forth from Brisbane to the Gold Coast as all my shoots are on the GC but I actually live in Brisbane! When I am in Brisbane I will have my business days in which I will edit, brainstorm new ideas, listen to Bonnie Cee podcasts, international campaign meetings, organizing creative shoots, booking photoshoots and invoices.. The list can go on but I will be here forever!  And when I am on the Gold Coast I am shooting, getting Charcoal Vanilla Iced Lattes from The Milkman’s Daughter, spending time with my boyfriend and chilling on the beach! I love the balance that I have between Brisbane and Gold Coast, but soon I will be moving all of the weeks to the Gold Coast this year, and I am super excited.

What is your go to fav equipment?

I have a small collection right now of what I use. My fav equipment is what I am using currently for all of my shoots: Canon 5d Mark III / Canon 24-70mm f2.8 lens / Sigma Art 50mm f1.4 lens.

What tips would you give to people who want to do the work you do?

Have your inspirations, but go at your own pace. Never compare yourself to others, just remind yourself that you are on your own photography journey and your time will come when it does.. That is like my motto! Always be thinking about new creative ideas for shoots, what is going to make you stand out amongst the others? Show your side of photography no one has ever seen before.

Did you do any work before freelancing? Or did you begin straight after school?

I found my love for photography through school actually! Once I graduated I went straight into a diploma of photography and photo imaging at TAFE Southbank in 2017. I learnt so much while I was there. Once I graduated I opened my business up while also working in retail at a jewelry store. Once photography got super busy I decided to leave my job and go fully freelance, which I have now been doing for around 10 months.

Do you find it difficult standing out from other creators? How do you battle these challenges?

No not at all, as I said in the previous question, I am on my own journey and what will come will come at the exact perfect moment. I absolutely love all the other creatives and I wouldn’t be who I am without them! They help me motivate myself even more to create amazing photos as I shine in my own light.

Who are your biggest inspirations?

So much inspiration love to these people ❤ (instagram handles)

@plantifulsoul @bonniecee @jessicakobeissi @clint @chuck @exceedthelimits @studioflamingo @pixpop

Do you ever find it difficult not working a 9-5 type job and having a reliable income?

So far not at all, things have been going very well!. Trust in yourself when you go fully freelanced and always remind yourself that you will have that abundance coming in. I have never experienced a 9-5 job before.. I hope to be doing photography for the rest of my life!

Guys let me know your thoughts and some of your other fav photographers – or who’d you like to see a little interview with next!!
